Switching to biomethane can significantly reduce operational costs by over 30% compared to diesel, making it a compelling choice for budget-conscious businesses and individuals alike. Additionally, the long-term savings can substantially improve financial sustainability.
BioLNG is the fuel of choice for international transport companies and longer distances. BioLNG trucks can do more than 1,500 km on a single tank, which makes it competitive with diesel fuel. Refuelling LNG trucks is as quick as refuelling with diesel (less than 10 minutes), facilitating efficient operations and minimal waiting times.
BioLNG can achieve up to 100% CO₂ reduction and can even have negative emissions depending on the feedstock used (e.g., manure), making it a sustainable choice for the future. Gas engines reduce engine noise by 50%. This leads to quieter operations and a reduced environmental footprint.

LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and bioLNG (liquefied biomethane) are chemically the exact same product; the only difference is their carbon footprint. BioLNG can achieve up to 100% CO₂ reduction and can even have negative emissions depending on the feedstock used (e.g., manure), making it a sustainable choice for the future. Gas engines reduce engine noise by 50%. BioLNG is locally produced from organic waste or manure, which makes it resilient against price shocks resulting from any future global energy crises. It also helps to make Europe independent from energy imports of natural gas.
LNG trucks come in different configurations and engine sizes and are offered by Iveco, Scania, and Volvo. All three OEMs have a long-term strategic view on the technology due to bioLNG, which is considered a key contributor to achieving fossil-free transport by 2040-2050. LNG trucks are 20% more expensive than their diesel counterparts. However, LNG as a transportation fuel is on average 30% cheaper than diesel when using the Eurowag fuel card, leading to a return on investment of approximately two years. Prices can vary depending on the availability of bioLNG, which is generally more expensive but may enjoy tax reductions.
The Eurowag fuel card is accepted at over 60% of all LNG refueling stations across Europe, giving access to over 420 stations in total. It is possible to find LNG from Helsinki (FI) to Sicily (IT), making LNG the most accessible alternative to diesel. Eurowag fuel card customers can also access CNG at over 300 stations. The share of biomethane is constantly growing and is offered at more than 30% of all LNG stations in Europe; for CNG, the share of biomethane is even higher. Eurowag operates two LNG stations in the Czech Republic and offers bioLNG to its customers, paving the way for carbon-neutral commercial road transport.
Different alternative fuels are available, including bioCNG, bioLNG, HVO, LPG, and electricity. See our acceptance network for available stations and check how to get a Eurowag fuel card now.
