We transform your drivers into top performers. Eurowag Fleet Management comes with tailored recommendations.

Have you evaluated your drivers? Driver Behavior is a very popular Eurowag service that many dispatchers can no longer imagine their monitoring solution without. It lets you know which of your drivers are the most reliable, but also which ones need to improve their driving. However, most fleet management systems will not offer you any solutions to fix these problems, and it's up to you to advise your drivers on how to improve their driving.

We transform your drivers into top performers. Eurowag Fleet Management comes with tailored recommendations.

Eurowag Fleet Management solves it all for you. Not only will you get to know your drivers' behavior behind the wheel, now you also have personalized recommendations on what a particular driver should improve.

Being in control means minimising risk

If you consider yourself a successful haulier, one of your key characteristics is having things under control. Accountants meticulously process your employees' attendance, while dispatchers keep your transports running smoothly, and drivers drive according to the regulations. All of this happens with the help of a versatile fleet management solution. That's how it works in the ideal world of the transportation industry. But even the best hauliers know that every business comes with challenges that must be faced.

One of the riskiest aspects of fleet operation is the human factor. Of course, we cannot control some of the problems on the road, but we can handle most of them. At Eurowag, we know that the safety of the goods being transported begins and ends with the driver. That's why it's essential to pay special attention to the way your drivers drive.

The driving style plays a key role in the performance of your fleet in several ways:

  • Vehicle operating costs - fuel consumption, vehicle depreciation, possible fines
  • Road safety - speed compliance and predictable driving
  • Sustainability - environmental responsibility for greenhouse gas emissions, responsible approach to replaceable components on the vehicle that become waste
  • Corporate reputation - if your company is committed to road safety and protecting the environment, it increases the integrity of your company in the eyes of your partners and customers

Do you consider these factors important to your company? If so, let's take a look at how you can use driving style optimization to grow your business and increase efficiency.

Driver Behavior - all information about your drivers in one convenient place

It's important to not only track the location and condition of your vehicles, but also to focus on how your drivers behave when in transit. In the transport business, your concern shouldn't just stop at whether the goods were transported from A to B at the appointed time. As a haulier and employer, you are fully responsible for the entire transportation process.

That's why Eurowag's Fleet Management gives you maximum of transparency of what your drivers are doing behind the wheel. One click is all it takes to have a complete list of all your drivers and their ranking in terms of how well they drive.

How is this score calculated, you ask? A number of parameters that affect a driving are taken into account in the overall driver score. These parameters are divided into three categories – driving, eco and wear and tear. Each of the groups contains specific indicators of how the driver behaves within that category. At the same time, the system also calculates a score for each of the categories separately.

So, let's have a brief look at which parameters are taken into account when calculating the overall driver score:

Driving data:

  • Time of constant accelerator pedal + cruise control in a given driving mode - the time during which the accelerator pedal was almost constant and the time the cruise control was engaged in each driving mode. So, it is a smooth ride, which is a desirable state.
  • Exceeded engine speed in tow - the sum of the times when the maximum effective engine speed in tow* was exceeded. At higher RPMs, there is an increase in fuel consumption, but no significant improvement in vehicle performance.
  • Driver predictability - This metric is based on the average time interval between throttle release and brake application. It reflects the driver's anticipation and readiness to react, which contributes to safer and more efficient driving habits.

Eco data:

  • Engine running time without consumption + Ecoroll - driving time when the vehicle's inertial energy is used to move the vehicle, resulting in zero or the lowest possible fuel consumption.
  • Towing time at speeds > 85 km/h - the time when the vehicle with the engine in tow* is travelling faster than 85 km/h. At these speeds there is a significant increase in vehicle consumption.
  • Idling time longer than 2 minutes and less than 30 minutes - this indicator tracks the amount of time idling with the engine running longer than 2 minutes but less than 30 minutes. Thus, it does not include idling time at traffic lights or intersections, nor does it include instances where the driver is recharging the vehicle battery.

Wear&tear data:

  • Braking distance with engine brake - the ratio between the use of the service brake and the engine brake/retarder. Preferential use of the engine brake helps minimize wear on service brakes, extends their service life and reduces maintenance costs.
  • Number of brake pedal actuations - average number of service brake actuations per 100 km.
  • Service brake use - the total distance travelled during which the service brake was applied by the driver. Indicates instances of heavy braking and potential wear on braking systems, emphasising the importance of judicious braking practices.

Behind the scores for each category, and for all groups together, is an advanced algorithm that not only considers many indicators of good driving behaviour, but also gives them a certain weight in the calculations according to their importance. In this way, you can view detailed driving data for each of your drivers for any given month and download this information to your computer.

Comparing drivers has never been easier

Are you an advocate of motivating employees through healthy competition? Then Driver Behavior will be a great way to inspire your team. Clearly displayed on the opening screen of your report you will see these easy-to-read rankings:

  • Ranking of the best drivers for the previous month
  • Ranking of drivers who showed the most significant improvement in the last month
  • Ranking of drivers who need to improve the most

It is said that one should only compare oneself with who they were yesterday. That's why we have developed a chart that shows each driver their driving progress over a selected period. It is also possible to compare the driving history of any two drivers.

Did you know that some hauliers reward their drivers based on their driving record? Feedback from Eurowag clients shows that giving the best drivers bonuses or other rewards on top of their pay has been quite beneficial for employers and employees alike. In a word - a win-win situation!

But what about those drivers who are underperforming? Finding a truly reliable and capable driver is becoming increasingly difficult, so you should be alert, but not panic, if there is a drop in scores, because our Fleet Management offers an answer to these types of challenges as well.

We teach your drivers to drive at their best.

Eurowag now comes with an entirely new innovation - the Coach function, which you automatically get with Driver Behavior. These are generated recommendations tailored to specific drivers. For example, if a driver tends to press the brake pedal, the system will alert you that this is something the driver should work on. Additionally, since nobody is perfect, such personalised recommendations are available for every single driver. Multiple recommendations are generated to help the driver improve their driving and are ranked in order of importance. In this report, you'll find the driving factors that contribute to the overall score and the data used to create the displayed recommendation. This means that both you and the driver know exactly which skill the driver needs to improve to have the biggest impact on their final score. The higher the score, the better your business will fare. This brings us back to the aforementioned win-win outcome!

What else does the Coach report have to offer? In addition to a clear view of each driver's individual scores, there's the ability to see what vehicles the driver has been operating over a given period of time. There is also an eye-catching timeline with data for each driver - you can find information on driving and idling times here. You can also see data on distance, fuel consumption, mileage and much more.
